The Fear

Gut-wrenching, mind-numbing, sphincter-puckering, paralyzing Fear.

Fear that does not need an object to the preposition “of.”

Fear as a mythic, archetypal, primal, transpersonal entity.

Fear that lurks under the bed of Ego and in the dark closet of Memory.  You don’t want to know what’s in that closet because it’s sure to be – Something Fearful.

Fear: the face behind the mask of Dread.

One aspect of addiction is that of a possession state, with Fear as the possessing demon.

Damned if you do; damned if you don’t.  Damned to what?  A non-life of Fear.  You can’t escape It because you’re afraid that you’ll fail, and your worst Fear will be confirmed: that Fear is your true, invincible, timeless and unchanging, natural state.

Fear, the mortal enemy of self-acceptance, self-love.

Fear with an independent existence as an all-encompassing shadow of Death.

The Fear: the frozen core of terminal addiction.
